Matthew's New Glasses

We finally decided to put our vision insurance to good use and take the whole family in to get our eyes checked. It turns out that Matthew has a little trouble with close vision and it makes his eyes strain. So now he has glasses. When he was choosing his frames he picked out a few that he liked but the optician kindly let him know that they were girl's glasses and pointed him towards more masculine frames. Overall, he thinks they are pretty cool. They tend to slide down his nose and so he sometimes peers over the top of his glasses at people which makes him look like a wise little English professor. I have noticed he seems to have a better time reading with his glasses and he says that he can see better when he wears them.

I took several pictures of him in his new glasses and made up a slide show. As you can see, he isn't shy about hamming it up for the camera.

Peek-a-boo

The new game in our house is to play peek-a-boo with Katy.  Here's a video of Maggie playing with her.

Laundry

The intended title for this picture was, "If you've been wondering why I'm not keeping the blog updated..." It's because I've got 8 loads of laundry waiting on my bed to be folded.

Which reminds me, I really need to get working on my laundry for this week.  I'll try to catch up on December later.

Chubby Baby Girl

These are from late November.  Kathryn was about 3 months old.
I love chubby babies.

Halloween

For those of you who were apologizing, in mid-November, for taking so long to publish your Halloween pictures, I'm wa-a-a-y later than you.  So there.

I wasn't going to post these pictures, because our camera was on a weird setting, and none of the pictures turned out very well.  But, I only sew once a year, and I had to show off my annual sewing projects.

First a I had a very dramatic little angel:

And a couple of very happy (but still scary) pirates:

And a cute little pumpkin (which I didn't make the costume for):

Petting Farm

I decided that I would really like to start contributing to my blog again.  I have a bunch of pictures on my camera and I am going to make some attempt to get caught up.

Our 2nd annual trip to the petting farm occurred again in October.  Here are a few highlights:

Last year, it was really cold on the day we went.  This year it wasn't.  The petting farm is about an hour-and-a-half from our house.  That morning, as we were getting ready to go, the kids were busily pulling sweatshirts out of their closets, because "it's always cold at the petting zoo."  I informed them that it was going to be a hot day, and the weather at the farm would be the same as it was at our house.  This was shocking to them.  They took their sweatshirts anyway.  And peeled them off as soon as we got out of the car.

Here was my favorite sign, posted near the cow (which we were warned never to stand directly behind).

Our tour guide told us that the pigs were the cleanest animals on the farm.  It's the ducks that are dirty and nasty.
But Andrew didn't buy that story.

It turns out that Matthew is an expert poultry rustler.  He caught a lot of birds in the poultry pens.

He even caught one for his little brother to hold.

And Maggie got one, too.

Those poor birds.  Does PETA know about this place?  I feel sorry for anyone who has to spend their days being harassed by preschoolers.  Wait a minute, I think I fall under that category...

But I digress.  Our final stop at the farm was the pumpkin patch.  They send all the pumpkins that are too small to be sold to this place.  But that's okay.  The kids are thrilled to get their very own pumpkin.
