Camping

We went camping this weekend with a group of people from church. It was a lot of fun, and the weather was perfect. The kids enjoyed playing with their friends, with minimal adult supervision. We enjoyed hanging out with our friends without too many interruptions from our kids. We had a potluck including smoked pork and s'mores. Mmm. Katy had fun being passed from lap to lap, inspecting everyone's watches, and getting her first taste of potato chips.

The only picture we managed to get was of Kevin, with Katy enjoying his water bottle.

Wait a minute... that was my water bottle! Who gave that to her?

When I woke up this morning, it was light out and I figured the sun was about to come up. Katy was just starting to fuss and I was really impressed that she had managed to sleep through the night. I felt so well-rested and I started thinking that we should always have her sleep in her car seat. After I fed her, I checked the time on my phone, and it was...

2:44 am.

My first thought was, "How in the world could the sun be coming up at 3 in the morning?! There must be something wrong with this clock." Then I stuck my head out of the tent. No, nothing was wrong with the clock. It was the middle of the night and the almost-full moon was pouring light down on our tent. Oops. I managed to get back to sleep that time (and the next 3 times that the baby woke up), but I'm not feeling so well-rested anymore.

She's Crawling!

This means that, once again, we officially have a resident monster at our house.

Solid Foods

Katy has been eating solids for two months now. She's still not convinced that this is a good thing.

Edamame (or "I Hate it So Much")

Several weeks ago, we served Edamame Salad with dinner. It's made of green soybeans and looked something like this:

After taking one bite, Andrew declared, "I hate this soo much!" He was so emphatic about his hatred that it was hard not to laugh. We couldn't even manage to encourage a second bite.

Fast forward a few weeks to when I was doing a reading lesson with Andrew. One of his new words was "hate". So I asked him what he hated. He thought for a second and then said, "Those beams (it's how he pronounces beans). I hated those beams in that salad. I hate them so much!"
